Volunteer E-News April 2019

Welcome to the expanded edition of Volunteer E-news. This month is National Volunteer Month where groups across the U.S. are celebrating volunteerism. For many of us who serve with Love INC of Brevard, volunteer service has a deeper meaning because it is an expression of our Christian faith. Service is foundational to being a follower of Jesus Christ because we are modeling the teaching of Christ who came to serve, not to be served. We are responding to the call to share God’s love with this generation for Christ, remembering the greatest sacrifice of all when Jesus died on the cross for you and me at Golgotha. We are responding to Jesus’s resurrection from the dead where sin and death were conquered and where eternal life is our living hope. We are responding to our faith in Christ that brings us reconciliation with God, where we are at peace with God. It is through faith in Christ that we have new life, we are reborn in Him. And it is in response to the love that Christ poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that we extend that love to our community in the name of Jesus in honor of our Lord and to share the good news that, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead you will be saved.” Romans 10:9. It is that good news that makes life worth living. Thank you to our Love INC volunteers who are shining their lights, who have counted the cost and have responded, “Yes Lord send me.”

“In same way, let your light shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your
Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

A Volunteer Appreciation Event to Remember:
Celebrating Volunteers Past & Present, Testimony, Sharing Vision, & Worship

About 60 people attended this year’s Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event, held on April 11, 2019 at First Eau Gallie Baptist Church in Melbourne. It was an evening of celebration, shining a light on the people who make this Love INC’s ministry possible, our volunteers. In planning this event, the greatest desire of our Board and Staff was to find a heartfelt way to convey how much our volunteers mean to us, and to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who we seek to glorify through our service.

When guests first arrived they were invited to fill out the #IVOLUNTEER Campaign signboard which posed the questions “What inspires you to volunteer?” Volunteer Victoria Smith photographed each participant with their signboard. Check out Love INC’s Facebook page for our volunteers who are featured throughout the remainder of April in celebration of National Volunteer Month.

The Appreciation Program began with Our Chaplain and Facilities Director John Maas’s welcome and meal blessing. Dinner was catered by Olive Garden, where in Italian hospitality guests were offered plenty to eat.

Our program highlights included our “Last Volunteer Standing,” Icebreaker recognizing Sheryl Fahje as our longest serving volunteer. The video, In Memorium honored the volunteers who have passed on, in remembrance and in thanks of their volunteer contribution. Some of our past volunteers included: Kimberly Bane, Bill Weiss, Karen Cameron, Pastor Larry Booth, Josh Fonner, and most recently John Blevins.

Volunteer Coordinator Denise Viscuso shared her personal testimony of Jesus Christ and spoke on the difference between volunteering as a civic duty, and volunteer service in Christian Ministry. Executive Director Kristy Stuart announced the April 2019 Volunteer of the Month Hillary Earle (See article below for details). Kristy spoke on Sharing the Vision of Love INC explaining the Freedom Map and correlating the client journey with Heather’s Client story.

Our Superlative Award Emcees Carissa Franklin and Hannah Demmer awarded our Stand Out volunteers of the year that included: Cindy Coleman, Melinda Perry-Davis, Carol Procter, Yolanda Almodovar, Ruby Lindeman, Barry Gault, Rich Ransom, Brenda Schulze, Kimberly Heath, Julie Wessling, Marilyn Cook, Volunteer duo Suzanne Hendricks & Darlene Conner, and Mary Catherine & her service dog Micah.

Next, our attendees had a beautiful time of worship with True Life’s Worship leader Stefani Bush leading our guests in “You are My King,” (Amazing Love). The evening came to a close with Board Chairman John Bankosky’s Closing remarks and Closing prayer. Attendees also received a small gift as they parted for the evening.

Buon Appetito!

Fundraising Volunteer Hillary Earle Named Volunteer of the Month, April 2019

We extend congratulations to Hillary Earle as the April 2019 Volunteer of the Month. Hillary was nominated by Kristy Stuart for the impact of her fundraising efforts during the year she served with Love INC. Amongst Hillary’s accomplishments is the ministry pitch that came out of the winter Board and Staff retreat, coining the phrase, “Hope, Help, and a Hand Up to Freedom.” Fundraising measures included hosting Donor Desserts where donors would meet clients who had completed a transformational journey with Love INC. Hillary also arranged for a videotaping of a new client story that was shown at various Love INC Events over the past year and promoted our Business partnerships. Congratulations Hillary Earle, April 2019 Volunteer of the Month.
